GM's Map 79: Courthouse or Sessions House
Map making can be time-consuming and sometimes frustrating for GMs¸ especially GMs with limited time to begin with. In our new 'GM's Maps' range¸ we will be providing a range of pre-made maps for you to use in your games.
And Justice for all!
Well¸ some maybe. Or perhaps for no-one at all – as the GM¸ it's ultimately up to you. But for a different setting for a scenario¸ this Court map comes with twelve good ideas and true to enhance your campaign. Do you really need it? Well¸ the jury's out on that¸ but it's certainly wanted.Sample Adventure Hooks¸
'Trial by Moonlight'
Your PCs can be the police¸ court employees¸ or cell occupants. A man is dragged into a cell¸ behaving very strangely¸ howling and clawing at his clothes. He begs not to be locked up¸ 'tonight of all nights'. No-one listens. Half an hour later¸ an unbelievably deafening howl rends the night air¸ and it looks like this guy's quite a bit hairier and might just be able to break the bars of his cell. The trouble is¸ those bars are all that stand between him and you¸ and to him¸ you're just 150 lbs of tasty meat...
The Bloody Assizes
The circuit judges are in town and holding the court of assizes¸ trying cases that come before them¸ many of which have been waiting since the last quarter sessions. Something isn't quite right though. The judge seems to be handing down sentences of death for almost everything.
The judge is possessed¸ can he PCs exorcise him without being arrested and sentenced to death themselves?
